Chelsea Handler is Hilarious

Every night at 11 pm you are most likely to see me plopped down on the couch, watching Chelsea Lately on E! It is kind of ironic that I love Chelsea Handler so much because she makes fun of all the reality TV shows I love but she is just hilarious and I can not help myself.

With my recent time off, I have been reading her book "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea." It is a memoir of her life in her words and with her humor. I can't wait to finish this one and read her first book "My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands" (yes, I know, I am a little out of order).

Attention { Cheese Lovers }

Okay, if you are like my hubby and hopelessly, endlessly in love with cheese then the following recipe is a MUST TRY! A few months ago my sister came over and made this amazing macaroni and cheese for Dustin and I, so the other night I decided to give it a shot.

Cook 32 oz. bag macaroni pasta al dente (it is going to cook a lot more so DO NOT overcook). Drain pasta and set aside.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a cast iron skillet, melt 3 Tbls. butter over medium heat.

Saute in diced onion and garlic for 4-5 minutes (amount really depends on preference, I skip onion and use about 1-2 Tbls. minced garlic).

Slowly stir in 4 cups half and half.

Add 2-3 sprigs fresh thyme and let infuse in milk mixture about 5 minutes then remove and toss.

Add in 5 cups shredded cheese (any kind of cheese works; mozzarella, parmesan, mild cheddar, smoked cheddar, blue cheese...).

Once cheese is melted, stir in cooked pasta and top with bread crumbs.

Cover with lid and continue cooking for 25-30 minutes in over.

Birthdays. Birthdays, Birthdays...

This past week has definitely been filled with nice weather, creativity, birthdays and a ton of fun. Saturday was my sister Nicole's birthday and party for one of my oldest and dearest friends, Miss Bria Lynn. A group of us went out to dinner in Seattle and then to the Triple Door for this amazing burlesque show { Nightcap w/ Lily Verlaine }. So much fun, definitely recommended! Yesterday, was filled with errands and enjoying time and sunshine with Kelli. It was also a day of birthdays for Bria Lynn and Gran! Happy Birthday again to you both!! To round of a busy weekend of birthdays, Happy Birthday today to my sister Kelli!!!

As if my weekend was not crazy enough with birthday celebrations, I have been trying to tap into my creative side and have been working away making jewelry for me, friends, and anyone who loves to accessorize! Coming to Etsy soon...

Mariners vs. White Sox { 08.11.09 }

It's the top of the 9th. Mariner's are winning 1-0. Everyone is having a great time and just about ready to go home with another win under our belt when the Sox hit a home run with 2 men on the bases. We loose 1-3. Still great time though!

After 2 epileptic seizures yesterday, my sister ended up in the ER with quite a shiner and 7 stitches on her right eye lid! Although I have some pictures, she would probably kill me if I posted them so instead... some get well lillies.

{ Food }

Since I was in high school I have had a passion for food and lately I have felt like I have lost my mojo since I have a wonderful husband who is an AMAZING cook! For the last few nights I have been trying to get my mojo back so I have been cooking and trying to get great recipes from healthy cooking websites. Needing to shed a few pounds...

Pan seared chicken with a mushroom cream sauce and roasted garlic mashed red potatoes. While it looks a little bland and not so appetizing... it was delicious!

This is teriyaki salmon with brown rice and sauteed vegetables. So nummy and healthy!

Ticketmaster { VENTING }

I am usually not the type to bash businesses or have a major tangent but I think this situation needs some serious venting! For the best men and groomsmen, Dustin and I decided to treat the boys to today's Sounders vs. FC Barcelona game at Qwest Field. Last week, I realized that I had not received their tickets yet so I called Ticketmaster. They told me that they were sent US mail and if I don't get them by Monday to call. Well, we didn't get them so I called! I was then told that their is some sort of error on their part and they can not re-issue the tickets and have them at Will Call for the boys to pick up (like their website says). So, after 2 days of talking (yelling) at Ticketmaster the boys can not go to the game we paid for! While Ticketmaster did refund our money and give awesome tickets to another game and free stuff, IT DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT and I am so angry... and I will never use Ticketmaster again!!!!

Living Room { Help! }

I have been thinking that our living room needs a serious makeover. I love the furniture, and I love the wall color, (green of course) but we need some color and fun to liven things up. Maybe some drapes, pillows? I have been searching pottery barn, crate and barrel, urban outfitters... but not finding what I am looking for, however, I might not be able to picture it and need more opinions. Any suggestions?
