I just thought I would share the most amazing product ever created for us pasty girls! It is called "Faux Tan" by Bare Escentuals. No more tanning beds for me and definitely no more orange skin. This stuff is magic in a bottle!!!!
While playing around on the Internet this morning, trying to get into the groove at work, I came across something that has truly inspired me called "You are Beautiful". The website is about people all over the world trying to use 3 little words to make the world a better place. While they have their own statement their efforts are to be interpreted by each individual.
"...The intention behind this project is to reach beyond ourselves as individuals to make a difference by creating moments of positive self realization. We're just attempting to make the world a little better. Intention is the most important aspect of the You Are Beautiful project in its idea of purity. Nothing is sacred. Everything that has a perceived value becomes commodified. We work extremely hard that this message is received as a simple act of kindness, and nothing more. Advertising elicits a response to buy, where this project elicits a response to do something. The attempt with You Are Beautiful is to create activism instead of consumerism. You Are Beautiful uses the medium of advertising and commercialization to spread a positive message. Projects like these make a difference in the world by catching us in the midst of daily life and creating moments of positive self realization".

Can I just say one more time how much I love long weekends? They are Amazing. Wonderful. Awesome. Just splendid.
While I didn't accomplish a whole lot besides long naps, catching up on my shows and a few loads on laundry here and there, we did manage to go to this new casino in Placerville. Although I lost all my money the place was beautiful, they had free soda machines so I got unlimited Dr. Pepper, bathrooms were VERY clean and I got to play my favorite game ever... Wheel of Fortune. Oh the little things that makes one happy.
With the wedding in just less than 7 months I have been thinking... HONEYMOON! I have no idea where to go or even where we might want to go (so indecisive) so I've been on the Internet looking at every Top 10 Honeymoon vacation websites that I possibly can. Everyone seems to have the same Top 10 so here they are...
- Tahiti
- Hawaii
- Bermuda
- Las Vegas (not too sure what this one is all about)
- Italy
- Jamaica
- Aruba
- Mexico
- St. Lucia
- Virgin Islands
Any thoughts, suggestions, pros, cons...???
I did it! It took me about 2 hours but I did it. Be proud everyone.

It just came to me that it is officially only 7 days until our President-Elect, Barack Obama, will be sworn into office and be our President.
I have to admit, this is the first election I've voted in and I am proud to say that Obama will be our President for the next 4 years. Hopefully this will be the beginning of something wonderful.
Here's to change!
A few months ago everyone in the office started talking about an old co-worker, Leslie, and her new book. I remember thinking to myself, what is she writing a book about? After asking questions I found out that Leslie and her son were a few of the only survivors of Jonestown. Being only 24, I didn't really know what Jonestown was so like everyone else, I Googled it. After days of reading about Jonestown and what went on that horrific day I realized that Leslie was so much more of an amazing person then I could have ever imagined. I could not imagine going through what her and her son did that day and how it has effected her for over 25 years. From the moment I heard about Leslie, I have been intrigued to say the least about her story. Today, I realized that her book, called Slavery of Faith comes out this month and her website has excerpts from her book that will truly touch you.
- Last week my Fiance came home with a Wii Fit for me. I have been wanting one since it came out but when every where was sold out I gave up. While I have not played it yet. I am very excited. Thank you honey!
- Today I decided to do some lunch time shopping so I went to Loehmann's. I got 2 Free People dress for the Spring/Summer time for $80.00 when they were normally $128.00 and $168.00. So cute and so proud of my shopping adventure.
- At 2:21 this afternoon I received an email from my sister telling me that Dustin and I need to buy 2 plane tickets to Mexico. I was very thrown off and she then told me that my brother in law, Colin, and her are taking us to Mexico for our birthdays! We need to buy our plane tickets and everything else is taken care of. So cool. I guess we really need to get the ball rolling on our passports even though we have until June. I hear it takes a long time, plus we will need them for our honeymoon when we decide where to go. Any tips on getting a passport or honeymoon ideas?
- I think I finally found a blog layout I love and will keep for more than a week. Plus it is green.
I hope all this luck keeps going!

Okay, so I have been thinking a lot about my goals for 2009 and I am wondering if I need to take after Shelby Nycole and add a no complaining goal. While I like to call it "venting", I seem to be doing a lot of it lately. "Venting" at work is definitely my specialty as Candy can vouch for but do I really need a new goal or just really need to make #5 happen. What do you think?
PS - Did you notice I learned how to put a link in my posts? WAHOO. I am learning... slowly but surely!
Since 2008 is officially over it is time for reflections and 2009 plans.
2008 was a pretty good year if I do say so myself. Dustin and I moved to California in March, got engaged in May, went on some fun day and weekend trips, helped celebrate the wedding of my soon to be sister in law Shelby and her new hubby Rich, and started some new traditions of our own. As for 2009, I have some big goals, plans and predictions. Drum roll please...
1. Dustin and I are GETTING MARRIED July 11, 2009. I need to start wedding planning
2. My sister Nicole is also getting married in 2009
3. My girlfriend Tiffany is getting married May 2, 2009
4. I predict a baby in the family (thinking one of the sisters) but not sure from who yet ... Kelli, Nicole, Shelby??
5. New job for Mallory. I want to stay in health care but do something more hands on with patients. Really feel like I am making a difference and not just pushing paper
6. Find a permanent home... I am tired of moving!!!
7. I would love to start taking my own pictures instead of relying on everyone else but I really need a new camera
8. Blog A LOT. In 2008, I started this blog and have loved every minute of it. So much fun to create posts and show everyone what has been going on in the life of Mallory
Dustin and I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at Gran and Aunt Candy’s house. It was so much fun. Christmas Eve we played games, drank wine, ate pizza and just relaxed. When we woke up on Christmas morning we all opened up our stockings, Dustin made the famous breakfast burritos, we opened presents, and after watching some hilarious home movies of Candy, Dany and Mark as little ones and Dustin in his HS musical we went to visit Grandpa Friedly’s memorial.
That night I made dinner for the 4 of us. I made Beer in the Butt chicken but I think I am going to rename it Dancing Chicken.
And here is another photo from us cutting down our Christmas tree this year.
Back in November, my work sponsored an employee event at the Sacramento King’s game. I took Candy with me and it was a blast. Although we were in the “nose bleeds” before the game we got to be apart of the High Five Squad. We all got T-Shirts and got to go on the court and give all the players high five’s as they came out for the game and watch the players practice. Look how close we were! It was so much fun. Candy and I ate bad stuff, drank beer, and enjoyed our very first professional basketball game together.
The next night, Candy, Dustin and I drove to San Jose to stay the night with my soon to be in laws. It was Michael’s 50th birthday and the 3 of us were going to Black Armor night at HP Pavilion. The San Jose Sharks were unveiling their new jerseys.
We kicked some serious butt. Sharks won 7 – 2!!!!!!
After 2 back to back sporting events Dustin and I flew from San Jose to Washington for Thanksgiving week. We saw my family, friends and just unwound a bit. Hopefully I can get someone to send me photos from that trip.
